Meet Our Governors

Nick is the chair of the Governing Board. In addition to his responsibilities as chair, he is UK Chief Executive Officer for Inspired Education Group, and previously Global Education Director.

Nick joined Inspired after six years as Headteacher at Steyning Grammar School and was elected Chair of the Boarding Schools’ Association in 2019. He was appointed a National Leader of Education by the UK Department for Education and founded the Pavilion and Downs Teaching School Alliance.

Following a successful international career in Investment Banking (leading Emerging European Equity teams at US, UK and European investment banks, including Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and HSBC), Nick trained as a teacher at Pembroke College, Oxford in 2004. Nick is an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, UK National Teaching Awards Winner in 2007 and received an MA in Education Studies from the University of Sussex. Nick is a Board member of the Safeguarding and Child Protection Association.

Prior to joining Inspired as Global Education Director in January 2025, Mike was the Principal at Dubai College for 10 years during which time the school was recognised as the Best British International School in the World in 2019 and the Best British Curriculum School in the UAE in 2021.

In addition to headship, Mike served as a governor at St. Catherine's British International School in Athens, was co-Chair of the HMC Middle East division and the British Schools in Dubai, a member of both the HMC Membership committee and the GSA/HMC Universities committee and is Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and the Royal Society of Arts.

Mike holds an MBA in Education Leadership from UCL's Institute of Education, an MA in Social Anthropology from SOAS, the University of London, as well as a BA in Literae Humaniores from the University of Oxford, where Mike was the 1999 Charles Oldham Classical Scholar.

Mark has worked in education for 30 years. Prior to joining Inspired as UK Education Director in September 2023, Mark was Headmaster of Wetherby School Notting Hill for 15 years, and Deputy Head for 2. With extensive experience in all aspects of academic, pastoral and co-curricular provision, Mark was also Executive Headmaster of Wetherby School Kensington from September 2022 until April 2023.

Mark also brings to governance his experience as Head of Mathematics at King’s College Junior School, Wimbledon for 5 years and Head of House, at Westminster Under School and Eaton House the Manor.

Jane Emmett holds the governance responsibility for safeguarding and SEND. Jane Emmett is a fully-qualified teacher with more than 40 years of experience in both the maintained and independent sectors. She founded Fulham Prep School in 1996, having been Head of Cameron House in Chelsea for several years. Fulham Prep grew exponentially from 12 students to now over 700 across the Prep and Pre-Prep. The setting up of Fulham Senior School in September 2017 is the fulfilment of a long-held dream.

In November 2015, Fulham Prep joined the Inspired Education Group. Jane retired from active headship in July 2016 and is now a Governor of both Fulham Prep Schools and Reddam House School in Berkshire with particular responsibility for safeguarding.

 

Jane Emmett, Stakeholder Voice and SEND

Jez is the Global Safeguarding Lead for Inspired (role commencing September 2022) and is based in London, UK. Jez was the Head of Safeguarding in Education for West Sussex County Council for six years. Before this position, he served as a senior detective with Sussex Police, leading the county's multi-agency safeguarding response hub. Jez has overseen many significant investigations and is a highly experienced safeguarding inspection and audit officer.

Jez has worked very closely with schools throughout his career, including as Chair of Governors. Positively influenced by his contribution to education, two of Jez's children are now teachers. Jez has lectured nationally and internationally on the development of child protection processes within schools and other agencies. He strives to highlight the importance of placing the needs of the child at the centre of safeguarding procedures.
