The Benefits of Our Tailored Curriculum

Our innovative, personalised Lower School programme is deliberately crafted to promote excellence in academics, deliver challenging and stimulating learning experiences, and provide leading preparation for the subsequent GCSE examinations.

Only the very best teachers, with the best credentials, work at Wetherby Pembridge. They are experts in two key areas – in their subject, to inspire a love and thirst for learning in that field of study, and in the pedagogies required to convert that into deep learning for every student.

The depth and rigour of our Lower School syllabus, which blends a traditional academic approach with the latest in educational technology, prepare learners to make clear, informed decisions about which subjects to pursue at GCSE level and beyond.

All students study Maths, English, Science, at least one modern language, Latin, Geography, History, Theology and Philosophy, Computer Science, Music, Art, Drama and PE. Students continue with a weekly Games afternoon and follows a timetabled course in Personal, Social and Health Education.

An Ambitious Enrichment Programme

Enrichment in our Lower School is integral to the leading holistic education that we offer, deepening specialist learning and broadening the skills that students develop. Our extensive, structured co-curricular programme offers a range of sports, arts and club opportunities that stimulate learners, promote valuable skills, qualities and character development, and help students choose areas to pursue at a higher level.

Learners are challenged to try new things, enjoy one-to-one tutelage from top professionals, and participate in our enriching Partnerships and Service programme, developing a sense of responsibility that will serve them as future leaders.

Excellence is recognised and rewarded; students are strongly encouraged to develop and showcase their abilities in plays, concerts, sporting fixtures, and local, national and international competitions.

Regular visits and residential trips enrich lessons by adding significant depth to the core curriculum, with unique opportunities on our doorstep – in Central London and at the Olympia site itself – a transformed global showcase for creativity.

University Guidance: The Groundwork for Future Achievement

Preparing students at the earliest opportunity to access the best universities in the world is key at Wetherby Pembridge. In a competitive market, it is crucial that bespoke university counselling and preparation begin as soon as our learners start middle school.

Our deliberately broad and academically rigorous lower school curriculum allows children to explore a wealth of academic disciplines from day one. By adopting a university-like, seminar-based teaching style, our inspiring educators nurture academically engaged lower school students.

As their interests develop, students may choose to explore them in depth by engaging in a targeted manner with our school’s enrichment programme. While specific university preparation begins a little further into their school careers, lower school students enjoy a range of exciting preparatory opportunities, from academic societies to prestigious guest lectures, visits from industry leaders, and career-development initiatives to inspire every student to reach high.
